Denver, CO, November 1, 2022—As part of its ongoing mission to help interior designers become more successful, Pearl Collective, formerly known as Gail Doby Coaching and Consulting, has partnered with Interior Talent, a leading architecture and design executive search firm, to offer design professionals and firms a career path. up-to-the-minute understanding of how to find, attract and retain top talent in today’s competitive environment.

The Hiring & Competing for Top Talent Challenge will take the form of three hour-long live presentations featuring Gail Doby, co-founder of Pearl Collective, and Ken Roberts, director of Interior Talent. Each hour-long session covers a specific theme: Day 1 – Competing for and attracting top talent; Day 2 – How to Find and Attract Top Talent; and Day 3 – How to retain top talent in a highly competitive environment. Each session is from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

“Attracting and retaining talent is a priority for virtually all designers,” notes Doby. “Finding the best talent for your business is critical to the success of your business and the well-being of your team. Understanding how to find candidates that fit your company, culture and team dynamics is part of the equation; Retaining your best talent in the current climate is another. Learning strategies for both will give designers an edge over the competition.”

Pearl Collective recently released initial results from their month-long survey entitled 2022 Interior Designers Survey on Fees, Salaries and Competition for Talent. When it came to hiring and compensation, 62% of respondents said there was a shortage of available applicants for open positions. Equally highly ranked, 62% of business owners said applicants who applied for positions at their company were unqualified, while 48% said applicants were not a good fit for the job and/or company culture. In addition, 42% indicated that applicants are seeking higher salaries than were offered.

Roberts understands the challenges design firms face. His company has been supporting creative companies in recruiting and retaining exceptional employees for 20 years. “This is a difficult hiring environment, as I’ve seen,” he says. “Understanding what is important to you and motivating potential candidates is key. Knowing how to stand out so candidates want to join your team is the next level. And it’s important to know how much and what kind of compensation you can offer.”

To support these processes, participants will learn how to implement the best interviewing tactics. Receive onboarding tools for new hires; and take away best practices in employee retention that will help both current and new team members.

Registration is possible from now until November 15thth. The cost of the three-day program is $198, which includes the full results of the program you just completed 2022 Fees, Salaries and Competition for Talent Surveyavailable immediately after completing the challenge.

A portion of the proceeds from the Hiring & Competing for Top Talent Challenge will go to the Design Leadership Foundation, whose mission is to ensure a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion in architecture and design. DLF believes that everyone should be able to imagine themselves in the career fields of architecture and design at a young age, regardless of race, gender, creed or background.
